“Although its shipping carton is well designed to protect its contents, upon opening it there was hidden damage to the top. Sauder could not have been nicer and more responsive, sending me a free replacement, which arrived a few days following my calling them. The replacement was perfect.I am an accomplished DIYer. Even so, assembly took the better part of a weekend. The instructions are well written, quite specific and lengthy. If you expect the desk to turn out correctly, you MUST follow them.All of the necessary hardware was included as was a small bottle of wood glue. All you need are basic hand tools and sufficient room to work. There are a lot of parts, most of which are marked to correspond with the instructions.The instructions make a point of saying NO POWER TOOLS!!! If you carefully follow their instructions, using a regular screw driver (not a screw gun) there will be no strip-outs or over tightening of the fasteners.Even though this desk is fake veneer over particle board, once assembled it looks really nice even under close inspection. Sauder put a lot of thought into its engineering and design.
